Description
Calum Macleod is a multi-instrumentalist who grew up as a fluent Scots Gaelic-speaker in Edinburgh with strong links to the Isle of Lewis and Caithness. In his debut solo album, Calum plays many of his instruments, multi-tracked to sound like a full band album with styles ranging from traditional Gaelic to classical to jazz. From solo clarsach to a folk band, and a work for pedalharp and loop pedal to a Gaelic song with accompaniment. As his first solo album, Calum used it as a chance to get all his crazy ideas recorded; one track in particular uses some strange improvisation techniques that he learnt while at music college.
