Description
Càirdeas, meaning kinship/friendship in Scottish and Irish Gaelic, is a celebration of family, friends, languages & cultures spanning Scotland, Ireland and Canada.
We were both brought up in families that sang. Brian lived in Newfoundland, Canada until he was seven years old and then lived in Dublin, Ireland. Fionnag was brought up on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. Music and song permeated family life as we sang songs from the Gaelic traditions as well as folk songs of various genres.
This album was recorded during the Covid lockdown in the winter of 2020/21. During this difficult time, we wanted to reach out to family and friends through recording songs with them which we grew up with or that means something special to us. We hope you enjoy it.
