Description

“My Scottish Heart” is the second album from Scottish singer and songwriter, Evelyn Laurie. It takes, as its source material, a selection of 18th and 19th century Scottish songs, reimagined by Evelyn and her collaborator, gifted pianist and arranger, Euan Stevenson.

All are carefully deconstructed from their original incarnations and lovingly recreated with a fresh and contemporary spin, allowing Evelyn’s dulcet vocals and musicality to shine through. The title track is an original from Evelyn and Euan.

From the swinging “I Know Where I’m Going” and “Fly We To Some Desert Isle” to the lovelorn ballad of “The Loch Tay Boat Song” and the deep groove of “Island Spinning Song”, the finished product has a genre-defying foot in both jazz and traditional folk camps, with plenty of musical interest to please fans of each.

Led by Euan on piano, excellent support is provided by a stellar line up of musicians, with Tom Gordon on drums, Andrew Robb, bass, Konrad Wiszniewski, sax and Scottish whistle, Colin Steele on trumpet and Catriona Price on backing vocals.
