Esther Swift explores ritual, connection, isolation, and the natural world in her performance with pedal harp and voice. A prolific, boldly innovative harpist, composer and singer, Esther works across genres as diverse as classical chamber music and free improvisation, and writes for ensembles large and small.
Expectations of a Lifetime is Esther’s debut solo studio album.
“This album is inspired by Edinburgh’s urban nature, the changing seasons and the rich tapestry of people who make up this city. Following my own journey of womanhood and my evolving relationship with the natural world, this album is made with love for this city and its music scene. At its core is my deep desire to connect and share my experiences which make up my Expectations of a Lifetime. A host of hugely talented musicians feature on the album including the inimitable string quartet Vulva Voce, Fergus McCreadie, Patrick Kenny and Dave Tunstall.”
