Description
Cyril Scott was dubbed the “English Debussy”. He studied at the Hochschule Conservatory in Frankfurt alongside Percy Grainger and Roger Quilter, and wrote a lot of music for piano, including three Sonatas. This CD focuses more on his lighter and more evocative pieces, such as Rainbow Trout, which is perhaps his best-known composition for piano.
Pianist Christopher Howell was born in London, but lives in Italy, where he has given a series of lecture-recitals about British art in the round – poetry, painting and music. He has also recorded a number of pieces for Swiss-Italian Radio in Lugano.
