Description

Since winning the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year title in 2015, folk singer Claire Hastings’ debut album Between River and Railway has been eagerly anticipated. The album features exciting arrangements of traditional and contemporary folk songs in Scots and English alongside Claire’s self-penned material.

Her ‘beautifully clear voice’ is accompanied by her ukulele and a strong line up of musicians including guitarist Jenn Butterworth (Songs of Separation), fiddler Laura Wilkie (Fat Suit) accordionist Andrew Waite (Dallahan) with Duncan Lyall and Martin O’Neill (Treacherous Orchestra) adding bass and percussion.

Produced by Ali Hutton (Old Blind Dogs), the album features a rousing version of Let Ramensky Go and a beautiful rendition of Lional McClelland’s Come Spend a While Wi’ Me.
