Description
Martin Flett’s debut album comes all the way from the Outer Hebrides, where he was born and raised, and features super talented, renowned local musicians. Recorded in the iconic Wee Studio on the Isle of Lewis, it contains a range of songs that will touch the heart, lift the spirit, and instantly lodge in the brain from the very first listen. From the upbeat ‘Better Days’, ‘Just Like You’ and the title track, ‘When The Introverts Come Out’ to songs of parting – ‘American Wake’ and ‘If Only I Had Known’. The beautifully melodic ‘If Wishes Were Horses’, ‘Falling In Slow Motion’ and ‘Places Like These’ and the country influenced ‘I Don’t Want To Be The One To Tell You’ and ‘It’s When You’re Not Looking’, there are songs for everyone to enjoy over and over again. You won’t listen to this album just once. And then there’s Shapeshifter, like nothing else on the album. Martin waited until the age of 68 to release his debut album, yet all the songs have been written in the last three years. He’s been playing his own songs in The New Lewis bar and the Failte Centre in Stornoway for the last two years and the reaction of audiences was a key factor in choosing which tracks to include in the debut album. Many of his own favourites are lying in wait for the follow up album.
