Description
Eclectic is probably the best word to describe Cover Stories, the debut release from Fife singer Siobhán Scott. There are songs here for every mood, occasion or playlist, so hopefully it will appeal to a lot of musical tastes.
Siobhán explores soul, blues, alternative, contemporary, pop and country through songs written by some of the finest current artists such as Gavin Degraw and Idina Menzel, alongside those from the archives of Bob Dylan, Dougie MacLean, JJ Cale and Claude-Michel Schonberg. The album also features The Second (Set Love Free), a delightful original.
Songs of love, hope, belonging, empowerment and life permeate Siobhán’s choice of repertoire, echoing the influences of the great interpreters she grew up listening to at home.
It was always most important to Siobhán that whilst covering a song, it should be very different in arrangement and style from the original. “I felt I had to make these songs my own in a sense and not just do a clone, otherwise what was the point? So I worked hard to bring something different to the table and I hope that people like what I’ve done.”
